Terms of Service

Last updated: August 21, 2026

DiabEats provides general nutrition and restaurant information for educational purposes. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using DiabEats, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use DiabEats. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use DiabEats only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

3. The DiabEats Service

DiabEats helps users explore restaurants, review menu information, scan packaged-food barcodes, save foods, and ask an AI assistant for general nutrition guidance. Features, content, availability, and pricing may change or be discontinued at any time.

Restaurant menus, ingredient lists, nutrition facts, allergen information, barcode data, availability, prices, and other information may be supplied by third parties or generated from scanned materials. We do not guarantee that this information is complete, current, or accurate.

4. Health and Nutrition Disclaimer

DiabEats is a decision-support and educational tool, not a medical service. Information shown in the app may not reflect your individual health needs and must not be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.

Always check food labels, confirm ingredients and allergens directly with restaurants or manufacturers, and consult your doctor, dietitian, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about your diet, medication, insulin, glucose management, or other treatment.

Never delay or disregard professional medical advice because of information provided by DiabEats. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact emergency services immediately.

5. AI-Generated Content

The AI Assistant may produce incomplete, incorrect, outdated, or unsuitable responses. AI responses are not reviewed by a healthcare professional and are provided for general education only. You are responsible for evaluating information before acting on it and for seeking professional advice when appropriate.

6. Scanned and Submitted Content

You are responsible for the photos, text, and other content you submit to DiabEats. You must have the right to submit that content and must not submit unlawful, harmful, or misleading material. Do not submit personal health records, payment information, passwords, or other sensitive information.

Barcode and menu scanning results are estimates based on the information available to the service. A scan is not a guarantee that a product or meal is safe for you, free from an allergen, or appropriate for your treatment plan.

7. Subscriptions and Purchases

Some DiabEats features may require a paid subscription or other in-app purchase. Prices, billing periods, renewal terms, and available features are shown before purchase.

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed and managed by the applicable app store. Unless required by law, refunds are handled under that store's policies. Subscriptions may automatically renew unless canceled through your app-store account before the renewal date.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

9. Intellectual Property

DiabEats and its original software, design, branding, and content are owned by DiabEats or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, and revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose.

10. Third-Party Services and Links

DiabEats may rely on or link to third-party services, including AI, subscription, restaurant, map, app-store, and food-data providers. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, content, products, or practices.

11. Availability and Disclaimers

We work to keep DiabEats useful and available, but the service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, outages, or reasons outside our control. To the fullest extent permitted by law, DiabEats is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DiabEats and its owners, contributors, suppliers, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for losses resulting from reliance on information provided by the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

13. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to DiabEats if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, or if continued operation is not reasonably possible. You may stop using the service at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination will remain in effect.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and may provide an in-app notice for material changes. Your continued use of DiabEats after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
